Jewelry Care

Preserving your pieces for generations

Fine jewelry deserves thoughtful care. Following these simple guidelines will help keep your Labargyle pieces looking beautiful for years to come.

Daily Wear

Remove your jewelry before showering, swimming, exercising, or applying perfumes and lotions. Chemicals in cosmetics, chlorine, and sweat can dull metals and affect certain stones over time. Put your pieces on last, after makeup and hair products.

Cleaning

Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe your jewelry after wear. For a deeper clean, a mild soap and lukewarm water work well for most pieces. Avoid harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners unless specified, and abrasive materials. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth before storing.

Pearls and softer gemstones require extra care: wipe with a damp cloth only and never soak. Diamonds and harder stones can tolerate a gentle brush with soft bristles; gold and platinum benefit from occasional professional polishing to restore their lustre.

Storage

Store each piece separately to prevent scratches and tangling. Soft pouches, fabric-lined boxes, or a jewelry tray with individual compartments are ideal. Keep pieces away from direct sunlight and in a dry, temperate environment. Chains and necklaces are best hung or laid flat to avoid kinks.

By Piece Type

  • Rings — Remove when washing hands or using lotions. Store in a ring holder or padded compartment to protect settings.
  • Necklaces & Pendants — Fasten clasps when storing to prevent tangling. Lay flat or hang to preserve the chain.
  • Earrings — Keep pairs together in a small pouch or dedicated compartment. Store studs face-up to protect delicate backs.
  • Bracelets — Store flat or clasped to avoid stretching. Tennis and link bracelets benefit from gentle handling to protect clasps.
  • Brooches — Pin through fabric when storing to keep the pin mechanism secure. Keep away from moisture.

Professional Care

We recommend having your pieces inspected periodically by a qualified jeweller. Prongs, clasps, and settings can loosen over time; early detection helps prevent loss or damage. Contact us if you would like guidance on care for a specific piece.
